Samsung Galaxy S IV Launched Packed with Unique Features
Samsung has just introduced its new flagship Galaxy S IV in a Broadway-themed press event at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.
While it looks similar to Samsung Galaxy S III, the buck stops there. The S4 is actually bigger, thinner, and lighter than its predecessor. It is also packed with new features unseen in previous version, and even in most contemporary smartphones.
And by thin, we mean 7.9 millimeters thin. The phone weighs only 130 grams, mainly due to its polycarbonate body. Despite being thin and light, the Galaxy S4 brags its 5-inch Super AMOLED screen with 1080p resolution and 441 pixels per inch density (compared to iPhone 5’s measly 326ppi).
Inside this smartphone includes a 2GB RAM, a whopping 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, as well up to 64GB of storage that can be expanded into an additional 64GB thanks to its microSD slot. It will be available in two colors: black mist and white frost.
Samsung’s biggest come-ons for its current flagship phone includes an ability to take pictures with both cameras at the same time; an instant voice or text translator; and the ability to recognize commands by gesturing commands without touching the screen. Users can even use the phone as a fitness tracker, exploiting its numerous sensors.
It also features the long-reported eye-based navigation. Apart from scrolling pages depending on where you are looking, it also pauses the video player if you are looking away.
The Samsung Galaxy S IV will be initially available in 155 countries, including United States, starting at the end of April. It will be distributed by all major US carriers, as well as regional wireless providers like US Cellular and Cricket. Price has been hinted within the mid-300 range.
